Wonders Will Never End As A Trip To The Marine World Fails
The Ezu river in Anambra State was in the news again yesterday when
passersby at the Ezu River Bridge in Amansea, Awka North Local
Government Area of the state saw a 43-year-old woman in the middle of
the river alive and waged by dried tree stems.
The woman, who gave her name as Peace (surmane withheld) from Ezeoye,
Nibo in Awka South local government of the state, had entered the river
on a spiritual journey but was unable to accomplish her mission due to
unknown forces.
The crowd watching the woman in the river brought back the sad memories
of January 19, when residents of the area woke up to a bizarre incident
of over 30 dead bodies floating on the river.
The story before the woman was rescued by some men, who operated in a
canoe, was that she had gone to the river bank to perform some
sacrifices and was leaving when her N500 fell into the river.
She was said to have struggled to retrieve her money when the force of
the flowing river carried her but luckly, some stems of trees in the
river served as a wedge to prevent her from drowning. Looking dazed,
Peace later told Daily Sun that she was on her way to the their meeting
in the marine kingdom, before her movement was disrupted.
She said: “My name is Peace, I am from Ezeoye Nibo. I am in an Ogbanje
fraternity. I came here so that Ezu River will carry me to Nibo. We
travel through rivers to our meeting place in the depth of the river
where our queen’s kingdom is.
“I came with cellophane bag and I had N500 in it, the N500 fell into the river as the water carried me.”
Asked where she was going for the meeting, she said: “We hold our meetings at Ezu Agulu and I am still in the junior category.”
Peace, who said she lived in her father’s house as she was not married
physically, added that she was married in the marine kingdom. “I am not
married in the physical world, but I am married to the water spirit and I
have two children in the river,” she said.
Having been exposed, she said she would go to confess her involvement in
the marine kingdom, saying, “I want to go home now and confess that I
am married to the water spirit and that I came from the marine kingdom.”
